New budget due July 2007 – budget proposal guidelines reviewed & approved.

FIESTA SHOW: Bill Eash

All show personnel in place now with vets hired. Drapes to be ready on time (may need to store in air conditioned storage facility). Premium Books are out. Will have 6 Legion of Honor presentations. AAHA will supplement food for exhibitor/member party Saturday evening if necessary. A.C. Rodriguez is putting together a poster to promote the Saturday night performance in order to get more members and the public to attend. It will be available online at AAHA website for downloading, printing & distribution by members in the area feed stores, tack shops, restaurants etc..

Big success despite major problems. 168 horses (up 65 horses from last year), 527 entries (up 300 from last year). Much appreciated support from AAHA. Next year’s projects: vendors, progressive barn party during show (ie. Saturday evening), emergency back-up plan. Profit: small but was able to donate to charities. Next year dates: March 7-9, 2008 at the San Antonio Rose Palace.

TRAIL RIDE: Donna Doulton

Good feedback on March ride. New date & location pending. Will have it for next meeting.

BLACK STALLION LITERACY PROGAM: Dian Deal

Virgina Cherry from Beeville has completed a session with Grade 1 students. Using the book “Little Black”. It comprises of 2 phases: 1st touch is at the school where students are visited by Little Black and Big Red (horses from the book) and are given copies of the book; the 2nd touch is hands on with 4 horses & children read to the horses. E-blast has been sent out to members regarding this program with only 2 replies. It has been suggested that we have a display for BSLP (Black Stallion Literacy Program) at the Fiesta Show, possibly including the Little Black and Big Red from the Star AHA. Dian will get additional information to the Show Manager (Bill Eash) for approval.

YOUTH: Jeanne Harford

Focus at present: Silent Auction at Fiesta Show. It is their number one money-maker. Items do not need to be horse related. They are applying to be able to ride in the King William District Parade. 2007 Alamo Arabian Youth of the Year Committee Scholarships 3 volunteers to review candidates are: Chandra Burkhardt, Dian Deal & Rose Marie Eash. Youth of the Year awards will be given at the Annual Meeting , Saturday , July 7th, location pending. Next AAYC meeting April 29, 2007 at Alexa Nichols home.

BOARD NOMINATIONS: Rose Marie Eash, Liz Williams, Donna Doulton

AAHA e-blast sent out to all members. No new nominees. Board voted to close nominations: Board Nominees must provide bio for ballots to be mailed by May 31, 2007. Nominee’s are: Lori Sill, Margo Shallcross, Jeanine Pegg-Hundley, Denise Moore, A.C. Rodriguez, Jeannie Harford & Mark Williams.

NEW BUSINESS:

Open Show – May 5, 2007 – no issues received. Volunteers needed.

Clinics: Upcoming clinics to be discussed – Bill Eash & Jeannie Harford to provide ideas for next meeting.

Guest Artist: Sara Eyestone

Wonderful presentation & art work. She is initiating a new project in her artistic career by painting the Arabian Horse & will be present at several shows. The date was set for our Annual Meeting. It will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007. Linda Cornelius will talk with Double Diamond to see if we can have the meeting at their facility again this year.
