Call to Order at: 7:15 p.m.

Minutes of the meeting of July 2006 approved.

OLD BUSINESS:

Annual Meeting: big success. Flowers sent to Mary Margaret for all her assistance with Double Diamond.

Trail Ride:

Donna Doulton & Mary Bell to organize trail rides. Dates & places to ride to be suggested at next meeting. Suggestions welcome. Insurance coverage on days of ride by the Club.

Team Penning Clinic:

October 8, 2006 at Cibolo Livery in Bulverde, Tx., Maximum 9 riders at $75.00/horse. Must have negative Coggins. Please contact Donna Doulton at 830-885-2258 for further information. E-blast to be sent out in early September. This clinic does not cost the Club any money as it is not exclusive to the Club – something fun to do with your horse.

Appreciation Dinner:

August 5th at La Fonda – 42 volunteers were honored for their hard work.

Arena Drapes:

Work in progress. Linda Cornelius to contact Terry Carter for further information.

Delegates:

Bill Eash, Jeanne Harford & Margo Shallcross. Jeanine Pegg back up delegate.

First Show – November 15-19th in Louisville, KT. Motion approved for delegates to receive a flat rate of $1,200.00 each to cover expenses.

Yearbook:

For members with addresses, photos & ads. Mary Bell, Dian Deal & Margo Shallcross volunteered to obtain information on costs to be presented at November 2006 meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Spring Show 2007:

Dates: May 17-20, 2007
AHA fees increased to $100.00/class & $1,00/horse.
Same staff hired. Need new announcer for next year.
Ribbons: Dian Deal & Paul Valdez.
Objective: review class list at committee meeting within the next 2 months.

Open Shows:

September 23, 2006 at Diamond F in Sequin. Motion approved to obtain “tool box” for office supplies. Laura Smith to buy supplies

Suggestion: VHS player & TV to be set up at shows to help promote the breed. Rose Marie Eash to bring to next meeting (September 2006).

Landscape Timbers: Mary Bell has in her possession – will clarify with Kathy Starustka as to show requirements.

YOUTH: Jeanne Harford

No meetings during the summer.
SeaWorld on August 11, 2006
Year-End Party at Dave & Busters on August 26, 2006.
Youth did very well at Nationals!! Congratulations to all participants.

NEW BUSINESS:

Website: Elizabeth Williams liaison with Marilyn Short. Website needs to be updated on a regular basis.

Rose Marie Eash suggested:

1. Board Training Program. Rose Marie to propose/budget program which can be used as a fundraiser at shows ie. Horsefest.

2. Club Clinics – for members.

3. Programs – offer different speakers/programs at monthly meetings to encourage members to attend each quarter. For example: Sports Psychologist.

4. Echo – will attempt to go back to monthly release.

Margo Shallcross addressed the issue of a Volunteer Service Awards – AHA. Please send in your suggestions to Donna Doulton, Rose Marie Eash or Margo Shallcross as soon as possible.

Community Shows:

In addition to the Open Shows – thoughts/suggestions for next year to be addressed at the next meeting.


Horse Babies – RFD TV – spot light is the Arabian Farms. Mary Bell will look into obtaining a DVD of the Arabian babies to promote the breed for various shows.

Next meeting at Chester’s Hamburger on 281 North on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
